The Conscience Laws and Healthcare Conference was held on Saturday 25th July 2009. The event was organised by the group- Doctors in Conscience in order to examine the implications The Victorian Abortion Law Reform Act 2008 will have on the practice of healthcare for conscience objectors.

The conference also considered the threat that anti-conscience laws pose to the freedom of thought, conscience and religion from a cultural, political and legal perspective.

In this video, Francis Sullivan speaks on the topic: Freedom of Conscience and Good Medical Practice: The AMA's position.

Mr Sullivan is the Secretary General of the Federal AMA and a consultor to the Pontifical Council for Health Care. He holds a Masters degree in theology from Loyola University in Chicago, and a Bachelors degree in politics from Curtin University in Western Australia.
